Sunday Funday

Last day of orientation was exactly what the doctor ordered. Even though Michelle and heat poisoning from the day before and i have been feeling a little sick, a day at the beach was much needed. We got up and went to the mall to meet with the rest of the group and then piled in two cars and headed to a resort/ beach area. It was really nice and when we got there at 11 we were the only ones there. We were told that it was because most people don’t go to the beach until after lunch. The sun wasn’t too hot and the beach was mostly trash so we didn’t get in the water. Ben assured us that the beaches he will take us to on a few of our excursions will be a lot nicer, “the nicest beaches in Tanzania” so we are all pretty excited for that. The day ended around 5 because the sun goes down early and the crowd was getting a little too local. We are pretty sure that people don’t discriminate on what night it is, they go out every night.

We are excited to get our weekly schedules going with class starting tomorrow at 11 AM. We take our Tanzania Culture and Society class on Monday and Tuesday until 5:30 and then our Primate Anatomy and Ecology class with Dr. Andrew Wednesday and Thursday at the same times. Our first trip is to the island of Zanzibar via a two hour boat ride at 4 AM. We hear its beautiful and it will be nice to stay in a hotel and take a real shower, not a bucket shower.
